A Day in the Life

Remote Coder at Valiant

What does a typical day look like for a mid-level medical coder on the VLMS team?

8:00 AM

Start of Day Check-In

Quick async standup via Slack — share your queue priority and flag any complex cases. No mandatory video calls.

8:30 – 12:00 PM

Coding Block

Deep work on your chart queue. Access EHR records through the secure VLMS portal, code ICD-10-CM and CPT, and submit claims via the integrated clearinghouse.

12:00 – 1:00 PM

Lunch Break

Full uninterrupted break. No one messages you during lunch. We mean it.

1:00 – 3:30 PM

Afternoon Coding + CEU

Continue chart queue. Tuesdays and Thursdays: 30-minute CEU module during your flow. Progress auto-tracked in your dashboard.

3:30 – 4:00 PM

Team Sync (Optional)

Weekly group call on Wednesdays for coding questions, peer review, and industry updates. Recorded for those in different time zones.

4:00 PM

End of Day

Log your production stats, submit any escalations, and sign off. Your time is your time.
